Children’s Playgrounds
and Their Importance

In the past, children would play the game of five stones on the sidewalks, which developed hand-eye coordination, set up a field with four stones on the roads and run around with a ball, and get lost in the geometric universe they drew on the sidewalks with a single stone. The one with the ball would set the rules, the one who messed up would break the pots and pans, and the merchant would open doors for them.

Times have changed. Technology has developed. City populations have increased. All these changes had both positive and negative effects, and as the living conditions of adults have changed, the ways children play have also changed. With the increasing population, the streets, avenues and sidewalks that used to be a part of children’s playgrounds have become a place for pedestrians and vehicles only. Technological developments have brought children who, instead of running around outside and giving their energy to nature, retreat to their comfort zones and play games on their computers and tablets for hours. The kinds of games that used to be played on the streets have already become traditional and old.

Being outside is the only way for a child to get to know the world that surrounds them.

Today, where the street play culture of the past has been replaced by technological games, playgrounds have gained great importance and have become the safest places where children can freely experiment with their motor skills.

As children play in open-air playgrounds, they will invent new games and continue to explore the world in their own ways with confidence
